Hello and welcome to Honestly Nat. My name is Natalie and I am a work at home business mama. Building small businesses is my passion. But you’ll also find me spending time with my kids, going on adventures, designing and baking.
My goal in life is to build creative businesses that give back to the community – all while enjoying an adventure filled lifestyle with my family.
I started my first small business when I was eight years old. My mom taught me how to sew fabric potpourri sachets. (Quite a mouthful!) I made them by the dozen and sold them at our local farmer’s markets, yard sales and flea markets. From the minute I had my first sale, I was hooked. I loved selecting the fabrics, creating a sales pitch and meeting customers. It was also great pocket money and what eight year old would turn down some extra cash!
Since my first small business venture, I have also resold recycling (before they had curbside pick up), built a babysitting empire in our neighborhood and wrote freelance articles for a horseback riding magazine (even though I know next to nothing about horses…). But my truly successful business is my stationery shop, Katarina’s Paperie.
Over the last five years, I built Katarina’s Paperie from scratch through creating original designs, building an audience and just plain hard work. Today, customers from around the world purchase our handcrafted stationery products.
Through all of these creative business experiences, I’ve learned so much. Everything from getting your business idea started to juggling an online shop with two littles running around. Most importantly, I learned how to balance my passion for running businesses with the thing I love the most – my family.
Since starting Katarina’s Paperie, the question I hear the most from other moms is how do you get started. I’ve met so many moms who have fantastic business ideas, but don’t know where to begin. After gathering so much knowledge about building online businesses, I decided to start this blog – Honestly Nat – as place to share the truths that I’ve learned about business and motherhood.
Because although it’s not always pretty (or easy), starting an online business has been one of the best experiences that I have ever had.
So here it goes. The good. The bad. And a few snuggles from the kids in between.
